Commerce & Management
We are very proud to say, as one of the premier faculties at the University of Kelaniya, the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies (FCMS) has satisfied the obligation of producing quality graduates. We call it as ‘quality’ because the faculty constantly initiates novel ideas and consistently strives to position their unique value proposition lucratively in each academic as well as in professional dealings. Allowing students to educate in diverse area of studies, the faculty offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, and it serves to the fields of Commerce, Accountancy, Marketing Management, Finance and Human Resource Management.

Graduate Studies
FGS offers a variety of programs, ranging from postgraduate diploma level to doctoral level. Currently, there are over thirty five programs offered by the various Faculties and institutions, leading to a Master’s degree. Some of the courses are based only on course work, while others are based on research, and some others are a mix of course work and research. Course work at FGS means face-to-face teaching as in a traditional university.

Humanities
The academic tradition and the history of the Faculty of Humanities dates back to the inception of the Vidyalankara Pirivena. Vidyalankara Higher Educational centre was established in 1875 by the initiative of the most venerable Sri Dharmaloka Thero and upgraded as the Vidyalankara University in 1959. the The most venerable Kiriwaththuduwe Sri Pangnasara Thero was the first vice chancellor of the Vidyalankara University. Today, the former Faculties of the Pirivena, the faculty of Languages, the Faculty of Buddhism and the Faculty of Arts come under the aegis of the Faculty of Humanities.

Medicine
The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Kelaniya is situated on a spacious 35 acre campus at Ragama. The Faculty now has sixteen academic departments, as well as several smaller units and centres. In keeping with the need to expand and improve allied health services in the country, the Faculty established a Disability Studies Unit in 1993. In collaboration with the Institute of Child Health of the University of London, the Disability Studies Unit conducted a 2-year diploma course in Speech and Language Therapy for 7 batches of students over the period 1998 - 2007. This course was upgraded into a Bachelor of Science in Speech & Hearing Sciences and the Unit upgraded to Department status in 2007. The first batch of 35 students for this degree programme was admitted in August 2008 and they graduated in January 2013.

Social Sciences
The English Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) represents the practical, task oriented aspect of Teaching English as a second Language (TESL) in the University of Kelaniya. It is a part of the Faculty of Humanities, but provides service courses to all the Faculties of the University of Kelaniya. Its strength lies in its ability to liaise with students and staff from all disciplines and provide English for Specific Purposes (ESP) or English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses as needed. The very nature of the ELTU courses symbolizes the multidisciplinary role it plays, as in teaching Business Communication, English for Social Sciences, and the Certificate Course in English, among others

Department of Accountancy
The Department of Accountancy (DoA) is one of the five departments in the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, University of Kelaniya. At present, it conducts the Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Accountancy degree programme. The vision of the department is to make the Accountancy programme, the first choice among the students and stakeholders. The mission of the department is to advance Accountancy education through Bachelor of Business Management (Special) Accountancy degree which provides outstanding Accounting and management education for students, create and disseminate knowledge, promote the understanding and ethical practice of Accountancy profession and serve the community.

Centre for Heritage Studies
Centre for Heritage at University of Kelaniya is an interdisciplinary centre which brings together researchers and students from a variety of academic as well as professional disciplines such as archaeology, heritage conservation and management.

Centre for Gender Studies
The Centre for Gender Studies of University of Kelaniya (CGSUK) is an interdisciplinary unit and draws its membership from across the university. It is therefore not attached to any Faculty but reports directly to the Vice Chancellor. The Centre for Gender Studies aims to provide a focus for research, teaching and consciousness-raising on gender in the university and within the community. The current director of the Centre for Gender Studies is Dr. E.A.D. Anusha Edirisinghe.

Inter-Faculty Center for Coordinating the Modular Systems (ICCMS)
Inter-Faculty Center for Coordinating the Modular Systems (ICCMS) is the center that managing and providing all the academic support services for students who are registered in the faculty of Humanities and the faculty of Social Sciences. It is established in 2002. Former directors of ICCMS are Professor Sarath Amunugama and Professor A.A.D. Amarasekara. Ven. Dr. Dodamkumbure Dhammadassi Thero is the director of ICCMS since January 2015.

Information & Communication Technology Centre
The ICT Centre was established in 1983 as a Computer Unit of the Department of Mathematics. It is now an independent centre, being the central computing facility at the University of Kelaniya. The ICT Centre is currently well equipped with both physical and human resources to provide quality ICT services for the members of the university community in particular, and the general public and the industry in general.

Research Council
The Research Council was established in May 2014 with the aim of promoting innovation and excellence in research in the University of Kelaniya. The activities of the Research Council are aimed at encouraging the staff at various stages of their career and disseminating research findings both locally and globally.

The Staff Development Center (SDC) of the University of Kelaniya is established to promote and support academic and administrative work that enhances individual and institutional capabilities of the staff within the higher education system in Sri Lanka.
