The visit of Ven Galkanda Dhammanada Thera

The visit of Ven Galkanda Dhammanada Thera Lecturer / Head of the Department of History, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka on the 31 July 2019.

The Members of University of Kelaniya Alumina Association of NSW and ACT welcomed the Thera at  the Association’s Secretory Ms Nargis Umagrliya’s residence. Members were represented by graduates of the University from earliest years to precent.

Topics of interest related to contemporary education in Sri Lanka were discussed. They were as follows:

• Necessity to revive Teaching of English / media of institution in English in University courses of studies / curriculum.
• Inclusion of creative/critical thinking in University Programs.
• Cross-Cultural understanding to promote national harmony.
• New approaches to teach History in the University as it has become a poplar discipline / subject at University of Kelaniya
